When the afternoon storm rolls in and you’re traveling with kids, Crayola Experience at The Florida Mall is one of the few indoor stops in Orlando that actually earns the trip rather than just filling time until the rain clears.
It’s a full hands-on attraction, not a gift shop with a name attached — four floors of activities, including a wall where you can watch crayons get made, a room to melt and pour your own custom crayon, a giant coloring wall, and a chance to name your own color for a personalized label. Most families spend two to three hours inside, which lines up almost exactly with a typical Florida storm window.
It’s built for younger kids especially, though the crayon-making demo and the giant art wall tend to pull in adults too. Parking is at The Florida Mall itself, so it’s an easy add-on to a shopping stop if you’re already in the area.
For guests staying in our Family & Group Homes, this is a solid rainy-day answer that doesn’t eat into your theme park days — a few hours here, then straight back to the pool once the storm passes and the sun’s back out.
Best time to go: early afternoon, right as the daily storm typically rolls in.
