Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the arrival point for almost every guest we host, so here’s the straight version of how to get from the airport to your home, and how to get around once you’re here.
From MCO to downtown Orlando is a 20–25 minute drive with normal traffic, whether you rideshare, take a taxi, or rent a car. There’s no train or direct transit line yet that beats a car for this trip, so most guests either rent a car at the airport or use Uber/Lyft, both of which have clearly marked pickup zones on the airport’s ground transportation level.
Should you rent a car? If you’re staying in our Downtown Collection and mostly plan to walk Lake Eola, Thornton Park, and Mills 50, you can genuinely get by without one — rideshare covers theme park days just fine, and every one of our downtown homes includes free parking if you do bring a car, which most downtown hotels charge extra for. If you’re in one of our Family & Group Homes further from downtown, a rental car makes day-to-day life easier, especially with groceries and multiple park visits.
Getting between downtown and the parks is a straightforward 15–25 minute drive depending on which park and which home. Traffic gets heavier in the late afternoon as parks close, so if you’re driving back downtown for dinner, building in a little buffer time is worth it.
Once you’re downtown, walking covers most of what you’ll want — Lake Eola, Thornton Park, and a good chunk of the restaurant scene are all within a 10–15 minute walk of most of our Downtown Collection homes. For anything further, like Mills 50, a short rideshare does the job.
One more practical note: self check-in means you’re never waiting around for someone to meet you with a key after a long flight. Every one of our homes uses keyless entry, so you can head straight from the airport to your place on your own schedule, no matter what time your flight lands.
